Dainkund Peak

Popularly known as ‘The Singing Hills,’ Dainkund is the highest peak of Dalhousie. In the local language, Dain means witches and Kund is a lake, so the name literally means ‘The Lake of Witches.’ The folklore has it that there were some witches who used to create havoc on the villagers and to get rid of that Phaloni Devi (an incarnation of Goddess Kali) killed all of them. A temple was therefore built on the top of the peak, which is also the endpoint of the Dainkund Peak trek.
